THE Tavistock Wheelers entered a team of riders in the closed-circuit racing events at Ilton Airfield, Somerset last Saturday.

Matt Adams and James Barrett were making their competitive debuts as 'juniors' and faced stiff competition from a large group of more experienced racers. However, they stayed securely in the peloton and had enough energy left to sprint for the line.

James Barrett from Quethiock, who only joined the club two weeks ago, was thrust into action in the category four race alongside Robin Brew and Rupert Warren. An untimely puncture on the last lap ruined James' race but Robin sprinted well to snatch fifth place whist Rupert Warren finished just outside the top ten.

This was another superb result for the club in what is only their third month of British Cycling Membership and they are already beginning to make their mark in the South West region.

If you are 14 and over, and think you might be interested in racing with the Tavistock Wheelers or perhaps might want to join us on our Sunday rides, then more details are available from tavistockwheelers.com
