ON a beautiful, sunny day eighteen school teams from all over West Devon took part in the Sainsbury School Games Cricket competition, held in the grounds of Okehampton College and hosted by OCRA and Chris Mount of Chagford Cricket Club.

The first round of the competiton had already taken place and the teams had been seeded and placed in the Cup, Shield and Trophy pools.

Winners of the Dartmoor Trophy were Exbourne, who beat Lewtrenchard B in the final. The best bat in the Trophy competition was Vinny from Hatherleigh. Best bowler was Joel of Exbourne and best all-rounder was Josh, also of Hatherleigh.

Lewtrenchard A team went one step further than their B team and lifted the Dartmoor Shield with Lifton runners up. Bailley from Lifton was awarded best bat, Charlotte best bowler and Ben Hunt best all-rounder, both of them representing Lewtrenchard.

The Dartmoor Cup was won by Chagford A. They beat North Tawton in the final with Alex from St Andrew's being awarded best bat, Lucy from North Tawton best bowler and Harry from Chagford best all-rounder.
