TAVISTOCK AFC manager Steve Tully has shared his vision for rebuilding the club into a "sleeping giant" following a 3-1 comeback victory over Sidmouth Town in the Western League Premier Division.

Speaking on the Jewson Western League podcast, Tully commended his squad’s resilience after overturning an early deficit at Sidmouth. First-half goals from Shane White and Gene Price, alongside a second-half Ryan Smith header, secured the three points. Tully highlighted the group's exceptional fitness and relentless work ethic, noting that his team regularly battles through to the 95th minute.

Reflecting on Tavistock’s return to the Western League following relegation from the Southern League, Tully described the club as undergoing a wider transition.

Despite early-season tests against top sides like Buckland, Portishead, and Clevedon, Tully targets a sustained push for the playoff positions. Central to his plans is playing an attractive, goal-scoring style of football to attract supporters and build momentum.

Off the pitch, Tully emphasised strengthening ties with the local community. Home attendances have already doubled from last season’s averages of 75–100 up to 150–200, with Tully setting a clear benchmark to break 300 regularly.

The former Exeter City defender, who previously managed Truro City into the National League South, views bringing the town and club together as his most vital objective.

Looking ahead, Tavistock faces an all-Western League tie against Ivybridge Town in the FA Vase tomorrow, followed by league encounters with Brixham AFC and Shepton Mallet.

Tully expressed enthusiasm for a potential cup run, noting the growing buzz around the club as they prepare for a busy run of fixtures.
