TAVISTOCK AFC 1st XI enjoyed a new manager bounce following Connor Marshall’s arrival but have since gone on to loss three consecutive games.

The Lambs came from behind to beat Buckland Athletic at The VX3 Stadium in Marshall’s first game in charge, Ryan Smith notching an equaliser against his former side before Jordan Pearce headed beyond his own ‘keeper late on.

Days later, they travelled to a Portishead Town side who have their sights set on promotion and that showed on the scoreboard.

It was Smith who got the ball rolling for Tavistock though, firing them into the lead after 15 minutes at Bristol Road.

Goals from Rio Fitton, Ollie Woodhouse and Jamie Adams flipped the script with Tavi having the last laugh of the half, courtesy of Kian Burch.

Owen Humphries, Aysa Corrick, Tyller Davis-Whitlock, Ethan Feltham and Kyle Egan were all on target after the break to make it an 8-2 hammering. It’s not often you have 10 different scorers in one game!

Marshall then made his Langsford Park bow on Tuesday, October 6, with a Devon derby clash against Ivybridge Town.

Goalkeeper Dan Holman fouled Alfie Slough in the area after 10 minutes only to regain his composure and deny Jake Lane from the penalty spot.

Shortly after, Chris Harvey headed an Owen Howard cross beyond Holman to make it 1-0. The pair combined once more but this strike was ruled out for offside.

James Forrest was the second Ivybridge player to win his team a penalty but Slough was the second in green to fall foul of Holman’s heroics in between the sticks.

Ivybridge had another chalked off by the linesman’s flag and on any another day, there surely would have been more than just one goal in the game.

Unsurprisingly, Holman was named as the Lambs’ man of the match for saving not one, but two penalties.

The young shot-stopper came up from a corner and headed home an equaliser in the dying embers of their matchup against St Blazey a couple of months ago and so he’s certainly having an individual season to remember.

Tavistock were playing in front of their own supporters once on Saturday, October 10, as they hosted Elburton Villa in the first round proper of the FA Vase.

To get to this point, the Lambs previously won away at both Callington Town and the aforementioned Ivybridge to advance through the qualifying stages.

Their Vase journey was cut short by the step-six high-flyers with Villa winning by two goals to nil.

Levi Landricombe applied some sharp work before moving it on to Charlie Patrick who set up Sam Travers for the opener.

Patrick then pounced on a misplaced kick from Holman and put it on a plate for Reece Brown to make it 2-0 in what was almost a carbon copy.

In the next round, Elburton have been drawn against Sturminster Newton United with ties to be played on Halloween weekend.

Featuring in the second round proper from Tavistock’s league are Bovey Tracey AFC, Brixham AFC, Buckland Athletic, Clevedon Town, St Blazey, Portishead Town, Bridgwater United and Shepton Mallet.

Marshall’s Lambs have three consecutive home games around the corner.

They take on Wellington AFC (Tuesday 13) and St Blazey (Saturday 17) in the league before welcoming Bovey to Langsford Park for a Les Phillips Cup showdown on Tuesday, October 20.
