HISTORY was made on Wednesday when Football League Two side Yeovil Town became the first full league side to make an official visit to Callington's Ginsters Marshfield Parc on Sunday.

The Somerset club is now being managed by former Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock, and both teams treated the friendly as an ideal warm-up for the coming season.

Going into half-time at 2-0 the Glovers went on to win 4-0, in front of more than 250 spectactors. However, the young home side, who play in the Carlsberg South West League premier league, can be more than satisfied with their display against the first team from the Football League division two side.

Callington FC chairman said he was grateful for all the hard work put in by the many volunteers on and off the pitch, including all the groundstaff and catering ladies, to make it a mememorable occasion.
