WEST Devon’s Emily Pascoe was bang on target to become the first girl to win the U21 Cornish Shooting Championships.

The talented 12-year-old, had previously, competed in the National Schools Shooting finals in Cardiff where she finished fourth in class and the highest placed single-handed female shooter.

The former Mount Kelly student, who now attends Plymouth College, competed in the Cornwall Championships held at the St Austell Rifle and Pistol club.

Drawing competitors from across the South West, Emily finished the weekend as Cornish County (U21) junior and open champion, as well as coming second in the Cornish Open Ladies’ Championships.

Emily is the first girl to win the Cornish County (U21) junior championships in the 26 years since it started in 1991 and only the second girl ever to win the open.
