Friendly Elephant's Nest v President's XI ON Sunday The Elephants Nest Inn held their annual President's game. Having lost the trophy for the last two years the cricket club were keen to win it back and after losing the toss they made a good start bowling in overcast conditions. The President's team relied heavily on Will Simpson (40) and Ross Cherrington (22) but could not build on this and finished with 95 for 7 off 25 overs. Elephant's Nest captain Tim Neale used his bowling changes well with Crispin Chambers taking two wickets for 18 and Tony Skeet 1-17 off his four overs. With such a lightweight total the President's team needed to keep it tight. Opening bowlers Reuben Grice (1 for 7) and Dave Cherrington (0-5 off 4) did this, but an excellent partnership between James Wimpress (38) and Pete Wilson (32) powered them towards the finish line with Ben Neale (2-22) and Simpson (1-17) taking wickets for the President's team. A few big hits from Gray (10) saw the Nest team home with five overs to spare. As always the game was played in good spirits and the cricket club thank the Elephant's Nest landlord and landlady Hugh and Denise for their continued support and great hospitality on the day.
