THREE years after starting the monthly 5k run — the popular 5KoolRun — around Tavistock Meadows, the race founder and organiser Allan Herdman from Tavistock Athletic Club has decided to take a break.

During his three year tenure the Saturday morning run has had more than 600 participants with runners coming from far and wide.

The course is flat and fast – ideal for personal best times. The run starts on Tavistock track and follows the college perimeter path before doing a loop of the Meadows and then returning to the track.

Allan took charge of Saturdays run which had 55 participants for his final race. Before the start he was presented with a celebratory bottle of champagne by Tavistock Athletic Club as a thank you for all his hard work.

Allan thanked all the runners for their support over the years, He also said he was delighted that the monthly run would continue under new stewardship and finally, that he was looking forward to the occasional lie in now!
