Fourteen-year-old Cara from Kelly College travelled to Aberdeen to compete in a swimming meet, and on the first day swam a solid 100m freestyle which saw her qualify for the final in 5th position. In the final, Cara stepped up to a different level to post a life time best of 59.83 and claim victory in this event. It was the first time Cara had broken the 60 second barrier long course in this event and puts her back in contention for the ASA National Age Group Championships this summer. Cara backed up the performance with a swim in the 200m freestyle final, where she posted another PB of 2.10.13 which saw her gain her second national qualifying time of the season. Cara and the rest of the Kelly Performance Swimming team will now look to the ASA National Age Group and Youth Championships which will be held in Sheffield at the beginning of August.
