THE Buckland Bounder, a multi terrain six-mile run, starts in Buckland Monachorum on Saturday as part of the annual June Fair. This is the first time that this run has taken place.

The race is open to competitors over the age of 18 years and the numbers will be limited to 200. This is an extremely challenging event and a high level of fitness is required.

The route leads up from Buckland Monachorum along country lanes up onto the Dartmoor National Park at Roborough Down, then heads across the moor down towards the Drake’s Trail.

It then crosses the new Gem Bridge and heads down left into the woods at Lower Grenofen, along the River Walkham and crosses the river at the footbridge at Double Waters.

The route then heads up back over the moor to Berrator where it rejoins the road leading back towards Buckland Monachorum. The elevation gain is 429 feet.
