Tavistock Cricket Club announces official opening after renovations

Tavistock Cricket Club are delighted to invite everyone to our official opening day on Saturday May 30 following the incredible winter renovations to our clubhouse.

We welcome the whole community to come up, have a look around and enjoy a fantastic afternoon of cricket as our senior men’s 1st XI take on Plymouth in a local derby starting at 12:30pm.

Nestled up on the moors at The Ring with some of the most stunning views in the area, the club has undergone an incredible transformation over the winter months.

Thanks to a huge amount of hard work, dedication and support from local businesses, the clubhouse has been completely renovated, breathing new life into a much loved part of the community.

Designed beautifully by Rebecca Greatrex, the refurbishment has modernised the clubhouse while still maintaining the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes the club so special.

For many years, the clubhouse had been in desperate need of a makeover and this winter that vision became a reality.

Countless hours were spent by volunteers and local tradespeople to create a space the whole community can enjoy. The finished result is a modern, comfortable and inviting venue set against the breathtaking backdrop overlooking Tavistock and the surrounding countryside.

At Tavistock Cricket Club, we want to be more than just a cricket club. We want to welcome not only cricket fans but also people who simply want to enjoy the incredible views, relax in a friendly atmosphere and spend time with friends and family in a unique setting. Although we are a members club, we are always delighted to welcome new members and encourage people of all ages to get involved.

Membership is available from as little as £1, making it accessible for everyone to become part of the club and support everything we do both on and off the field.

The club continues to grow year after year and we now have a jam packed schedule of cricket for all ages and abilities. Our junior section includes boys and girls cricket alongside thriving senior men’s and ladies teams. The senior men’s 1st XI compete in the Premier Division, the highest division in Devon cricket, showcasing the quality and ambition that continues to drive the club forward. We have also recently introduced walking cricket, offering another enjoyable and inclusive way for people to stay involved in the game and enjoy being part of the club.

Visitors can also enjoy our brilliant bar, offering a great variety of drinks, alongside fantastic food now available through the excellent Cow Corner Kitchen.

Our newly renovated clubhouse is also available to hire for private events and celebrations, making it the perfect venue for birthdays, parties, meetings and special occasions.
