Devon & Exeter Intermediate 1
Thorverton 3
South Zeal 3
AFTER two home defeats Zeal stopped the rot at Thorverton on Saturday with a well earned draw.
They went one down within three minutes when poor defending saw Thorverton break for a really soft goal. Zeal then started to get their act together, dominated Thorverton and equalised after a great free kick from Reg Wonnacott was headed home from close range by Dan Pengelly.
It was now all Zeal and they took the lead when Alan Vile broke down the left and crossed for Roger White to convert from close range. Zeal went 3-1 up when Roger White crossed for Vile to convert from ten yards.
They could have gone in at half-time three or four up but the ball would not cross the line as Harley Cann and Vile were close to increasing Zeal's lead.
In the second half Zeal started well but could not increase their advantage. Thorverton started to apply pressure and with 15 minutes of the half gone they pulled a goal back with a good header from a corner.
Zeal were living dangerously and from another set-piece a shot that was cleared off the line by Leon Ware was judged to have been behind the line and the score was 3-3.
Zeal started to come into the game again and finished the stronger of the two sides but a draw was a fair result.
This Saturday home to Feniton, kick-off 3pm.
