INTEREST in starting up a University of the Third Age in Okehampton, which encourages learning for the over 50s in a fun environment, has been so good that the first meeting takes place on October 18.
More than 30 enthusiastic people attended a recent get-together to gauge interest for a group where regional representative for U3A Janet Crocker explained how to go about setting one up, the costs involved and the next steps to take.
Many different interest groups were suggested and potential leaders have come forward for more than six different subjects ranging from meditation to field studies.
People will be able to sign up for groups at a meeting being held on October 18 at 2.30pm in the Ockment Centre. Everyone is welcome to go along and find out more. Refreshments will be provided.
