Bude 1

TAVISTOCK Hockey B team completed a clean sweep for the town's men's team on Saturday. Their emphatic 8-1 win over Bude A was the pick of the three team victories.

The young Tavistock side started strongly and a hat-trick of goals from veteran striker Nick Andrews put the game beyond Bude after 25 minutes.

Despite conceding a goal from open play, and missing a penalty, Tavistock reached half time 4-1 ahead, following a well taken goal from captain Greg Curno.

Building on the solid midfield defence of Sam Stanbury and Chris Cowie, Tavistock were able to pressure the Bude team from the restart. Two further goals from Andrews brought his tally to five before he was substituted to give everyone also a chance. Tom Ball and Pete Robson both took their opportunities well to condemn a tiring Bude side to an 8-1 defeat.

This was an excellent display from Tavistock thirds who, with eight players under 18, continue to improve with every match.

This Saturday they face tougher opponents, playing Marjons D at 11am at Marjons.
