YOUNG embroiderers in the Tavistock area got together last week to celebrate the first anniversary of the setting up of a group to promote needlework.
Tavistock and District Young Embroiderers launched at the end of April last year. Membership has grown steadily over the year, and last Saturday marked the anniversary of the first working meeting of the group.
Katy Choroszewska, whose daughter, Imogen, is a member, gave an excellent workshop on silk painting. Katy is a professional textile craftswoman with a shop in Gunnislake.
As members of the Tavistock and District Embroiderers' Guild, the young people are taught by experienced embroiderers.
The programme this year has included a variety of stitches and techniques, culminating in a fine display of stitched pictures of castles, exhibited at the South West Festival of the Guild in Exeter in April.
Anyone interested in joining the Young Embroiderers should contact Kath Braven on 01822 852278.
