SIX of the younger members of Tavistock Swimming Club (pictured right) recently took part in the Devon Development Galas at Tiverton. In the boys' 13 year old age group, Matthew Edwards earned a very good personal best in the 100m backstroke and swam the 200m freestyle, while Holly Brimble earned personal bests in the 200m backstroke and 200m IM in the 14 year old girls' age group. Jordan Channon, swimming in an individual gala for the first time in the ten-year-old age group, recorded personal bests in the 200m and 400m freestyle events. Harriet Edwards swam the 200m breaststroke in the girls' 11-year-old age group and earned herself a personal best. In the boys' 11-year-old age group, Kris Chapman and Kieran Rookes produced great swims, earning themselves personal bests, as well as three victories for Kieran in the 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke and 100m IM and fourth place in the 200m freestyle, while Kris gained second places in the 100m and 200m IMs, third place in the 200m freestyle and fourth in the 400m freestyle. This was topped off with first and second places in the overall BAGCAT awards for Kieran and Kris, respectively, well ahead of everybody else in their age group.
