OKEHAMPTON U15s hockey players have joined forces with Chudleigh to form a side to play in the Devon League. Playing last week on astro turf the side were against last year?s second placed team.
Undaunted by the prospect Chudleigh/Okes dominated from the outset and soon took the lead. Jo Rice found himself with space in the circle and placed his shot well to open the scoring.
Continual pressure on the Isca goal created a number of scoring chances and the Chudleigh/Okes side increased their lead before half-time.
Isca were quick to break when they had the chance, but central defender Tony Hemingway had a solid game and was always hard to beat. When he was, the Chudleigh keeper saved well on several occasions.
In the second half Chudleigh/Okes earned two short corners. Tom Forrester controlled the ball well to set Martin Jones up to score with a screaming shot.
Moments later Chudleigh/Okes were able to repeat the move and Forrester laid on the ideal pass for Jones to score his second and Chudleigh/Okes? fourth.
Isca scored a consolation goal before the final whistle.
The side play again this week against Exeter Hornets.
Junior hockey coaching is available for all players over 10 years old on Saturday mornings on the all-weather pitch in Okehampton.
