RESIDENTS in Metherell and Harrowbarrow showed off their creativity in the twin villages' annual show and garden party on Saturday.

Cooks, gardeners and artists from pre-school to long past retirement packed out tables and shelves in Harrowbarrow Village Hall with their handiwork.

Classes included flowers and vegetables, handicrafts, art — the children's section was particularly heavily supported — floral displays, photography and cookery, including a drizzle cake class for men only.

Entries were a little down on last year's record figure, but still among the best in the show's six decades of history.

Andrew Hunt, the new headteacher of Harrowbarrow Primary School, opened the show.

Young visitors enjoyed a treasure hunt and there were home-made cream teas, a raffle and a popular auction of produce at the end.
