WOULD you like a great night out and the opportunity of meeting someone special? The Devon Social Group could be the answer.
Based in Tavistock, but operating all over the West Devon, Dartmoor and East Cornwall area, the group is determined to wipe away those blues for people facing the prospect of spending Valentine's Day on their own.
With several hundred members, the Devon Social Group is all about making new friends and enhancing your social life.
Group chief executive, Cathy Dent, said the group, now in its fourth year, was 'unique.'
'It's not a singles' club or a dating agency and we do not restrict ourselves to a certain age group,' she said.
'We have established couples and single people from teenagers to pensioners. We are there for anyone who wants to improve their social life and meet new people'
Cathy said Valentine's Day was a time when single people could feel lonely and so a special event has been organised in South Tawton for February.
'It will not just be single people but couples as well,' she said. 'The emphasis is on having a nice evening and being with other people so you do not have the chance to feel lonely.'
She said if romance blossomed it was a bonus.
Some of the events organised by the Devon Social Group are trips to the theatre, cinema, nightclubs, dances, theme parties, murder mysteries, quiz evenings and weekends in France, but mostly group members go out for meals or to the pub.
There are things going on every week across the area.
