LOCAL Young Farmers' Clubs have been taking part in a national drive for new members this week.
National New Members Week runs from October 20 to 27 across England and Wales, and in a bid to dispel the myth that you have to be a farmer to join the clubs, various trips have been arranged.
Chairman of Roborough YFC, Will Horton, said that clubs suffered a tremendous blow this year because of foot and mouth.
'Most of the fund-raising events upon which clubs rely financially were cancelled, but we hope that the new members week will help create the impetus needed to get clubs like our own back on track.'
Roborough YFC has organised bowling, ice-skating and a trip to Woodlands and anyone aged 10-26 is invited to go along and get a taster of what YFC is all about.
The club normally meets on Tuesdays at 8 pm, and there is the chance to learn new skills, enter competitions, travel abroad or just enjoy a good social life.
