THE Volunteer Centre in Okehampton has a range of new volunteering opportunities this month. l The 1st Okehampton Scout Group are extending and renovating their scout hut and need extra help completing the task. Anyone with building experience or just a willing pair of hands would be greatly appreciated. l The National Trust have a full range of opportunities at Castle Drogo, including conservation volunteers, living history volunteers (this involves dressing up in historic costume), gardeners and a building project interpreter. l Exeter, East and Mid Devon PCT speech and language therapy service, in partnership with Connect, the communication disability network, are looking for volunteers to visit people with aphasia. Aphasia is a condition where people know what they think and feel but cannot get to the words. Full training and ongoing support is provided. l Opportunities are available with New Bridge, an organisation that creates links between the offender and the community.
