Students starting studies this coming term are being offered lifeline funding by a Yelverton group.

Yelverton Rotary Club, a group of volunteers supporting the villages in the Yelverton area, is asking for applications from students who meet certain criteria.

A club spokesman said: “Students starting university and qualifying for the maximum means-tested student maintenance loan who live in Yelverton area villages, then we could help.

“We have limited funds for a hall of residence starter pack, a rail card or a small grant for kitchen stores, for example.”

Applicants can inquire by emailing: [email protected] with details.

Qualifying villages include Yelverton, Bere Alston, Bere Ferrers, Buckland Monachorum, Clearbrook, Crapstone, Dousland, Grenofen, Hexworthy, Horrabridge, Mary Tavy, Meavy, Peter Tavy, Postbridge, Princetown, Sampford Spiney and Walkhampton.
