Chagford v Plymstock

CHAGFORD continued in their winning start to the season with an eight wicket win at Plymstock.  

Batting first Del Lammonby took the first three wickets in an eight over spell. 

However, skipper for the day Colin Mortimore soon introduced spin in the shape of Jerry Christophers, as he took two wickets in his fourth over to leave Plymstock at 49 for 5.

Opening bat Wood stood firm, playing some glorious shots all round the wicket and was the dominant partner in stand of 61 with Richards (11).  

Spinner Neal Rowlands then bowled Wood around his legs for 67, accounted for Richards and together with Christophers cleaned up the tail to leave Plmstock 123 all out in 29.5 overs, leaving an extra 16 overs to Chagford to bat. Christophers four for 42, Rowlands three for 16 and Lammonby three for 35 were the responsible bowlers.

In reply Mark Gribble was at his beligerent best, taking three fours of the first four balls he received and Christophers was in like vein at the other end as he scored three boundaries in the first over he faced.      

Gribble was bowled by Orchard for 25 in the fifth over for 25 with the score at 49,      Gorden-Lennox (18) and Christophers took the score to 73 and then Del Lammonby stole the scene scoring 39 in 18 balls including 3 sixes and 3 fours to complete a fine all round performance and a very good week. 

Chagford move to second in the table with 60 points just two points being Axminister.
