Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Tavistock 2 Witheridge 7 JUST when you thought things could not get any worse the Lambs produced what many die-hard supporters considered the worst performance over the last 20 years. It was not just defeat, but the manner of defeat by seven goals to two against a Witheridge team who are propping up the division. There was a lack of desire and passion throughout the team as the visitors were dominant in every area of the pitch and by half time it became a comedy of errors. This was supposed to be a game to celebrate keeper Andy Meeds' achievement of reaching 600 games for the club and a guard of honour ushered the captain of the day onto a heavy Langsford Park pitch.  The game started brightly for Tavistock as they went into an early lead thanks to an error from the visitors' keeper letting a tame effort from Lee Coxon slip through his hands. However it quckly went downhill from there. By half time Tavistock were staring down a barrel of a 4 - 1 deficit with error after error being punished by the visitors and the home team playing like blind men in a dark room. After an X-rated narrative from the management the Lambs came out for the second half to salvage some pride but almost immediately lost Mark Conday to a red card for violent conduct. Tavistock introduced Glyn Hobbs from the bench and his power and pace created openings but on the break Witheridge scored a fifth. Hobbs pulled a goal back with a run and shot but it was to no avail as a mix up at the back gifted the visitors a sixth. To compound a thoroughly dismal day Tavistock conceded a seventh before the end and the referee's whistle came before the towel was thrown in. l Tavistock must now pick themselves up for the trip to Porthleven next Saturday for a quarterfinal tie in the

Throgmorton Cup. Tavistock 2 Launceston 4 Not for the first time this season Tavistock were left to shake their heads in disbelief as they surrendered another three points to a workmanlike Launceston at Langsford Park on Tuesday night. There is little doubt that Tavistock have the talent and ability but too often they lack the application and this is testament to their league position. The Lambs were guilty of too many errors and too many poor decisions and this was compounded by the fact that they were outfought by a Launceston team who simply wanted it more. The game started at a frenetic pace and Tavistock had a strong claim for a penalty turned down. However it was the visitors who took the lead when poor marking from a set piece resulted in the ball being bundled into the Tavistock net. Tavistock rallied and it was no surprise when Will Stringer seized on an opening and fired home from 25 yards. The Lambs were now in the ascendancy and just before the interval Mark Conday rounded a timid Launceston keeper to fire Tavistock in front. Witihin minutes of the restart with fans still not back in their seats Tavistock conceded a soft free kick. Blatchford's weak first effort came back to him and he made no mistake with the follow up giving Andy Meeds no chance. Glyn Hobbs came off the bench to inject some life in the team and several runs had the crowd buzzing but there was no end product. Tavistock were then punished when Shane Krac lost possession in midfield and the lively Ellis who was running the backs for ragged with his pace fired home. The home team had plenty of chances but could not make them count and near the end were hit by a sucker punch as Launceston added insult to injury by adding a fourth to compound Tavistock's woes.
