Ethan Jennison from Horrabridge was the winner in the under ones’ category and George Lake from Tavistock was the one to two-year-old winner.
Tavistock’s new carnival princess Ellie Veale was crowned in The Meadows during a fun day on Sunday by last year’s princess Ruby Montgomery.
Despite the draw of the men’s Wimbledon tennis final and the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the day was a great success with displays by TAGB Taekwondo and David Buncle from Westcountry Falconry. David’s Lanner falcon failed to return at the end of his programme but he found him two hours later on Pitt’s Cleave Industrial Estate.
There was also a very successful dog show, the pedigree best in show being Louis, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, owned by Beryl Kowalski with Clary, a golden retriever, owned by Cathy Hipsey as reserve.
The tug of war was won by Tavistock Rugby Club and thanks were expressed to all the teams that took part including some scratch teams from TAGB Taekwondo.
