Devon League C, division 2nd XI Tavistock v Feniton AFTER the early loss of Butler to Baker, Feniton recovered to 89 before Gauler took the first of his five wickets, trapping Court lbw for 38. Rose and Avery followed before Australian Abbot was caught low down by McGahey off a full-blooded pull for 36. The innings seemed to be fizzling away until late hitting from Lewis gave Feniton a respectable total of 146. The Tavistock reply started badly when McGahey was bowled by young fast bowler Baker with the score at only 24. Steve Johns started the repair process with a patient 31, but when he was out Tavistock were 71 for 6. This soon became 94 for 8 and Tavistock were in all sorts of trouble. Then came the match-winning partnership between veteran John Rich, 28, and Roger Whittingham, 34. The decisive moment was when Whittingham and Rich took 31 off spinner Avery?s two overs. Abbot was Feniton?s best bowler ? 13 overs, 4 for 24. Tavistock had won with an over to spare and with rivals Bideford and Kentisbeare losing Tavistock move into second place.
