FOLLOWING the successful launch of a stunning stainless steel pan set, Masterchef Peter Gorton from the famous Horn of Plenty restaurant at Gulworthy is set to endorse a new top-quality product.
Peter (pictured) is due to launch his own set of knives at the first-ever Tavistock Food Festival, to be held in the town on July 31 and August 1. They will be available to buy from Lawsons, who are one of the sponsors of the big event.
Peter said: ?I have represented the Japanese Global knives for about five years now, but I wanted to find a knife that was more accessible to people.
?I?ve been looking for a long time and I think these are really good. This new set is for people to use at home, they keep sharp very well and they are nice knives to have in your hand.?
The boxed set of three Alpha knives are made by the German company Gude, a family-run concern which has been in business since 1910. The blades are made of the highest quality carbon charomium vanadium, ice hardened with a hand-ground cutting edge and optimum balance handle.
The set consists of a small knife, ideal for peeling, a carving knife which can be used on cooked meat or for slicing food like tomatoes and a large chef?s knife used for general purpose cooking.
?It?s a good, all-round set to have for anyone who enjoys cooking,? said Peter.
And Peter, who is due to give cookery demonstrations at the festival along with the likes of TV chefs Chris and James Tanner and Tina Bricknell-Webb from the award-winning Percy?s Restaurant, has arranged for a set of his new knives to be given away to one lucky Times reader.
Simply answer these three simple questions to be in with a chance of winning these superb cooks? knives:
n 1. On what dates will the first-ever Tavistock Food Festival be held?
n 2. How many knives are there in Peter Gorton?s new boxed set?
n 3. Peter Gorton?s new knife set is made by which Germany company?
