A YOUNG Okehampton entrepreneur is following in his brother?s footsteps by starting his own business at the age of 19.
Will Harrison has launched a company called Skatewarehouse.co.uk, selling skateboard and inline skate equipment and clothing just a few years after his brother James started his career by opening a similar business.
Will, who attended Kelly College, has been in the skating scene since the age of eleven, when be bought his first pair of skates in America. He is also a keen surfer and completed his second winter season in the French Alps, where he was snowboarding ? when he wasn?t working! ? for five months, earlier this year.
Will plans to sell his products through a new, exciting website ? http://www.skatewarehouse.co.uk">www.skatewarehouse.co.uk ? through mail order and from premises just outside Okehampton.
?The whole skate industry is really strong at the moment,? said Will. ?With the opening of the skate park in Okehampton and many others springing up all over the country, it seemed like a great time to start the business.?
Will?s brother, James, who has more than five years? experience in the extreme sports industry, said he was also excited about his little brother?s new venture.
?I have been helping Will with his research and we have spent considerable time checking out the market ? we both see this as a very viable venture ? it?s good to be able to combine a business with a hobby,? he added.
The website will be regularly updated to cover new products and designs as they come to the market place. Customers will be able to order these products on-line for immediate delivery and local enthusiasts will be able to pop into the retail outlet at Brightley Mill.
Deals have been negotiated with USD, Salomon, Razors, Rollerblade, Blind, Reaction and many more leading skate brands.
