Okehampton Columbines 0
Chudleigh 1
ON this showing Chudleigh did not look like they were several places above Okehampton women's hockey team in the league.
Despite several players suffering from flu the Columbines were on top for most of the match.
Nelly Collett and Jane Jones cut out the Chudleigh attacks down the flanks and worked tirelessly.
In the first half, Chudleigh were under a great deal of pressure. Becky Mortimore playing out of position on the left wing, found space on a number of occasions and came the nearest to scoring for the Columbines.
With Elaine Morgan pushing forward to good effect Chudleigh were back-pedalling for much of the game.
It was a fortuitous goal that Chudleigh scored to win the game, when a ball that looked as though it was going well wide was spinning to come just inside the post.
Okehampton Columbines expressed thanks to everyone who supported Saturday's coffee morning.
This week sees the club away for a friendly at Teignmouth.
