Whitchurch v Woodland Fort

WHITCHURCH remain in second place in the table after a comfortable victory at Manadon against Woodland Fort. Fort posed more of an opposition than in the reverse fixture, but were still easily beaten.

Stokes and Horler made runs hard to come by in the early overs, Fort had only 3 on the board after 11 overs. Horler finally made the breakthrough, dismissing Cuff with the help of a sharp chance taken by Alford at short leg.

Runs continued to be hard to come by, Horler bowling 13 overs for just 22 runs and taking 2 wickets. Mills at the other end also kept things tight, returning 4 for 26 from his 13 overs.

Conder played some aggressive shots, scoring 33 out of a total of 84, as Tamblin (3-26) took the

remaining wickets.

Whitchurch?s reply was slow. Hodge and Woodrow looked to keep out pace bowler White at one end and score off the other. White completing a 15 over spell for just 26 runs. Hodge 15, Gray 19 not out and Mitchell 18 not out, saw Whitchurch to an 8 wicket win, ably assisted by 19 wides. Victory achieved with 22 overs in hand.

Whitchurch took 19 points from this match.
