A 34 year old Whiddon Down man has admitted intentionally strangling his partner and will be sentenced by a judge next month.

Matthew Palmer, of Gooseford Farm, Whiddon Down, also pleaded guilty to assaulting Janet Palmer on the same day in March 2026 at a cottage in Sampford Courtenay.

Palmer appeared before Exeter magistrates court on Wednesday (September 23) and was told he will be sentenced at Exeter Crown Court on October 21st.
