TO QUOTE Phil Allen?s own words (Letters, December 30), ?What a lot of irrelevant rubbish? he spouts. Rather than wishing to drown the entire population of London, he should be placing the blame for proposed wind farms very much closer to home. Surely, much of the responsibility lies with the avaricious landowners who are more than eager to lease or sell their land for huge financial gain. They do not appear to have any conscience about the impact of wind farms, telephone masts or vast housing estates on the countryside, just so long as their pockets are nicely jingling with the profits. They have not been forced by compulsory purchase orders to sell their land for the above purposes and they willingly collaborate with developers and politicians to obtain the necessary planning permissions thereby increasing the value of their property for sale. So perhaps in future Mr Allen (your minority opinion on global warming aside) if you don?t want any of the above mentioned developments in your back yard, you should be directing your vitriolic methane emissions towards some of your more rural neighbours who may be tempted to grab the money and run.
