A MOTORCYCLE-mad youngster, who has missed celebrating his past few birthdays due to being in hospital, had a fantastic present this year with over 20 bikers turning up to his house to surprise him.

Jayden James, who turned nine over the weekend, was surprised with a crowd of bikers turning up at his door.

Jayden suffers with electrical status epilepticus syndrome (a form of epilepsy), which was diagnosed after he had a stroke and an 80-minute seizure in 2008. Jayden has since spent time in and out of hospital and as a result has missed out on celebrating a number of birthdays.

His mother Coralie wanted to do something special for him this year and so appealed to anyone with a motorbike to gather outside his house on the morning of his birthday as a surprise.

Coralie said: ‘Jayden’s condition basically means his brain is having constant seizures. He had a device fitted nearly two years ago in his chest which is attached to his brain — a bit like a heart pacemaker — which controls his brain.

‘He is obsessed with motorbikes so I organised a group of bikers to surprise him on his birthday at our house in Horrabridge.

‘He’s such a special little lad and it is overwhelming that the bikers have done this out of the kindness of their hearts to help make his birthday so special.’

Because Jayden’s seizures take place mostly when he is asleep, the family is now fundraising to purchase a seizure bed alarm by hilding a zumbathon on?Saturday (October 8) at King’s, Tavistock, at 11am. The aim is to raise £780. Picture by James Bird
