WITH reference to the article (July 19) about the proposed increase in rent by Horrabridge Parish Council for the use of Fillace Park by Horrabridge Football Club, I would like to ask the parish council through your paper what 'running costs' they incur?
I understand that the football club pay for their own electricity and gas used. They keep the pavilion clean and decorate as necessary and they maintain the pitches throughout the year.
I wonder how much the council would have to pay a grass-cutter to keep the grass on the pitches short. I know my husband at present cuts the grass in excess of 16 times a year depending on the weather.
Ironically, in the sports section of the same issue it was quoted that 800 people attended the successful five-a-side youth tournament the previous weekend.
Surely this can only be good, not only for the youngsters, but for the village of Horrabridge.
