HOW many towns possess an aura of magic? Only one of which I am aware, and that is Tavistock, even on a cold winter's night.
I was there the other evening. Fiona and I enjoyed a lovely meal with a family of your readers before walking around town to see the Christmas lighting displays, which are a credit to the town — beautiful.
Walking along the crowded pavements evoked for me emotions of excitement, euphoria, peace, love, elation and rapturous joy, and good fellowship.
I felt good, I felt young at heart and a freedom of spirit that I experience in no other place.
Later on, as we said our goodbyes and drove away, Fiona remarked: 'I have never enjoyed such a lovely evening for years — pure magic.' I agreed.
