LAMERTON Parish Hall Committee has continued to hold fundraising events during recent months for the Lamerton Sports and Community Centre Project in addition to the regular Saturday coffee mornings. A most enjoyable games evening with fish and chip supper raised over £300 and a very successful fashion show, with local firms Divas and Mini Me providing the outfits, was held in the parish hall. All the models were ladies and children from the local community. The event raised £437.10 ? this amount was doubled with sincere thanks to Miss Nicky Rapson who had secured pound for pound match-funding from her employer Barclays. Following on from the success of last year?s golf tournament, special thanks must go to Gerald Cramp for organising another enjoyable event at Launceston Golf Club with £500 being raised. Unfortunately, the recent duck race had to be postponed but the ducks will definitely be racing in Broady Field, Lamerton on Sunday June 11 from 2pm - so please come along and enjoy this very popular event. As the day fast approaches now for the building work to commence on this lovely new centre, may I, on behalf of the members and friends of the committee, thank everyone most sincerely for their enormous and constant support. Over the years, nearly £50,000 has been raised through local fundraising for this project ? no mean feat for such a small rural community.
