The Plymouth Area Police Choir joined forces with Cor Meibion Brymbo, the Welsh Male Voice Choir of Wrexham, for a charity concert at St Paul's Church, Yelverton on Saturday October 23.
The concert raised £750 for Tavistock-based Operation Sunshine, a Christian charity that sends practical aid to people in East Africa who are struggling against starvation, deprivation and disease.
Each year, the Tavistock branch sends five or six 40ft shipping containers, filled with donated clothing, food, school equipment and materials, medical supplies and tools.
The donations are sent to refugee camps, leper colonies, hospitals, orphanages, schools and remote villages throughout Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The concert featured both the Welsh national anthem and unofficial English anthem 'Jerusalem'. There was also plenty of food, provided by John and Barbara Dawe.
The concert came about when the Welsh choir, holidaying in the Westcountry, approached the Plymouth Police Choir to discuss fundraising ideas.
