Launceston 1

Tavistock 2

FROM the off Tavistock were in the ascendancy and they took the lead on 20 minutes when from a corner Launceston defender Jamie Ahearne headed his clearance straight to Lee Coxon who cut inside from the left hand side and curled the ball around Paul Hider in the Launceston goal from 25 yards out.

Tavistock continued to press and the livewire Coxon was a constant menace to the home side. On 35  minutes he ran at the Launceston defence and was up-ended hust outside the penalty area. From the resultant free kick Chris Menhenick curled the ball around the Launceston defence and past the despairing drive of Hider in the Launceston goal.

In the second half Launceston came out a different side but they were unable to break down a hard working Tavistock side. On the few occasions they did manage to break through they were thwarted by the resolute Lambs' defence who were led well by Matt David and Chris Menhenick with Andy Meeds marshalling them well from the Tavistock goal.

On 80 minutes Launceston full back Sam Scott broke down the right hand side before sending in a cross which was met by Liam Tilley at the far post and he gave Tavistock keeper Andy Meeds little chance to put it in the net.

However, a stubborn Lambs' defence held out to the final whistle to help their team to a welcome away win and three points.

Tavistock's man of the match was Shane Krac, who was instrumental in just about everything Tavistock created.
