Plainmoor Ladies 2

Tavistock CFC Ladies 4

ON a rough pitch Tavistock soon took control down the right wing with Sarah Blowey outpacing the defenders, her cross not met by a visiting forward.

A short while later another good run and cross was wasted.

Tavistock struggled to keep pace with a strong physical side. Cox, Glasspoole, Stock and Shaw were kept on their toes in the back four and Maloney in goal had to get off her line quickly to save.

The break for the visitors came down the wing with Blowey crossed inch perfect for Weeks to tap home.

Plainmoor battled for the ball and midfielders Hurley and Kelly had their work cut out and a breakaway goal by the Torquay ladies evened the score.

New signing Alicia Turner entered play for the visitors and put a good through ball forward to Weeks who lashed it into the bottom corner to make it 2-1. Tavistock suffered a blow with the loss of Glasspoole but Webber came on and a quick reshuffle restored order.

The second half started with Tavistock looking lethargic but Shaw and Stock were outstanding in defence. When the Tavistock defence failed to clear, a well struck goal evened the score line.

Maloney blocked a one on one shot and the ball was helped on by Cox to Turner who again found the feet of Weeks who cooly slotted home for her hat-trick to put Tavistock again into the lead.

Wingers Jones and Blowey were lively for Tavistock and only good saves kept out shots from Turner, Jones and Blowey.

A loose ball was latched onto by Hammond some 30 yards out and lobbed high and hard on goal; a deflection off a defender saw Tavistock go further into the lead. Tavistock players of the match were Hollie Shaw and Donna Weeks.

Tavistock now go top of the premier league.
