Devon seconds E (W)
Whitchurch seconds v
Plymouth Civil Service thirds
A SOLID performance by Whitchurch seconds cemented their position at the top of the league. Civil Service have struggled this season but it is games like this that can cause upsets.
It was not to be as the top order all made runs for Whitchurch laying the foundations for what was a comfortable win.
Vernon (72), Jonny Elliot (38) and Daymond (57) gave the Civil bowlers a hard time and rarely looked in trouble as they piled on the runs. With Powell (21) and Bridgewater (28) coming in later to up the pace Wayfarers finished on a handy 238. Dann (0-58) and Lay (2-60) bowled their spells tidily.
In reply Civil were soon in trouble losing Ellard for one. Yates (24) and Richards (12) provided some resistance but Adam Bridgewater (5-18) and Doug Vernon (4-61) bowling unchanged took away any hope that Civil may have had and gained a comfortable win for Whitchurch.
