Roadford Lake is brim full for the first time in six years Like most of the region, South West Water?s largest reservoir has been subject to above average rainfall this summer. It feeds large parts of Plymouth and North Devon and now stands at 100% for the first time since April 2001. South West Waters? water strategy manager Neil Whiter said: ?Roadford has the capacity to hold 34500Ml of water, which makes it the region?s biggest source of drinking water.? ?Rather than waste water, the company is now utilising the additional rainfall on Roadford to operate its hydro power turbines, the largest of which generates approximately 710kw ? enough energy for over 500 houses.?
