AN ENTERTAINING way to get a serious medical message across about the dangers of heart disease and strokes is taking to the stage in Okehampton this weekend.
'Big Little Heart' is a play about heart disease and stroke and has been organised by Okehampton Medical Centre and its diabetes nurse, Jackie Jones .
Jackie said: 'The play, for anyone 12 or over, is thoroughly researched, professionally written, and full of warmth and humour.
'It takes an affectionate, compassionate, and honest look at heart disease and stroke, highlighting the physical, emotional, psychological, and social issues surrounding it.
'It looks at how —and why — we should all look after our hearts.'
The 45-minute performance is followed by a chance to interact with the characters, letting the audience explore the issues further, look at the decisions they have made in their own lives, and see that life could be different if they want it to be.
A question and answer session with local health professionals brings the whole performance to an end.
Tickets, which cost £2, are available from Okehampton Medical Centre or on the door on the day.
Refreshments will be available and proceeds will be going to the Diabetes UK charity.
The play has been funded with an educational grant from Schering Plough.
The performance of 'Big Little Heart' the Octagon Theatre in Okehampton at 2.30pm on Saturday, March 28.
