Volunteers rally to village fair

BUCKLAND Fair will go ahead in 2005, the fair committee decided at its recent annual meeting.

This year?s fair was cancelled due to a lack of committee members, but at the annual meeting last week a new secretary and grand draw organiser were appointed, together with new volunteers to assist with the general organising of the fair, meaning it can go ahead next year.

The meeting decided not to move the fair to a later date after hearing that it was originally set up under a charter ? although the exact details of this have been lost over time. The fair will be held on June 11 as usual.

Organisers would like to hear from local groups and charities who want to be involved in putting on the fair and thus sharing in the proceeds.
