THE home side knew that only a highly committed performance would get the season off to the right start.

It was the visitors who came out the stronger, continuing where they left off last season with three first half tries to Okehampton's one Searle penalty. Griffith then put the home side back in touch with a chip ahead into space to touch down in the corner.

The sides turned around with the Cornishmen in front 15-8.

Much of the second half demonstrated the potential of Okehampton's talented back line.

Searle was first to cross the line following a well-worked penalty move. Bickle found Muggleston with a long range pass before off-loading to the full back for a simple run in.

Sage added another when a move from the training field was precisely executed, allowing the winger to put Okehampton within 5 points of the visitors at 20-25.

But it was the visitors who had the power and hunger for victory, crashing over from short range to claim the victory.
