THE Kelly College Concert Society will be rounding off its hugely successful 46th Season on Wednesday March 14 with a visit from the internationally acclaimed Herold String Quartet. The quartet was established in 1998 and in 2001 received the annual award from the prestigious Czech Chamber Music Society. The Quartet perform regularly in the major concert halls in Prague and in venues in the Czech Republic but they have built up their reputation in a series of recordings and successful tours to France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Greece, USA, Brazil and Japan. They first visited the UK in 2005 when they had a triumphant debut at London's Wigmore Hall. Music lovers in West Devon are very fortunate that the Herold have agreed to include Kelly College in their latest British tour in an event made possible by sponsorship from the Brian Foster Charitable Trust. In the Herold's programme for Tavistock, the composers of the players' homeland will figure prominently, with Quartets by Dvorak (the American Quartet), Janacek (Intimate Letters) and Sluka. They will be starting the concert, however, with Mozart's mysterious Dissonance Quartet. The concert begins at 7.45pm at Kelly College; tickets available on the door at £8.00 (Senior Citizens £6.00). Complimentary refreshments will be available during the interval.
