MEMBERS of the Stanbury family from as far as Peru and Australia gathered at South Tawton Parish Church on Friday to trace the burial places of their ancestors who date back to the 1700s in the village.
This was the fourth reunion of the Stanbury family, who originate from all over Devon and Cornwall and was organised by Janet Stanbury of Bere Alston.
One of the visits throughout the weekend reunion, which attracted 65 family members, was to the National Trust's Finch Foundry at Sticklepath. One of the 12 Peruvian visitors was a descendant of John Stanbury, who owned land and property around the site.
