HORRABRIDGE Rangers Sports Association has held three football tournament weekends at Fillace Park, Horrabridge, a jewel in the centre of the village.
Teams travelled from as far away as Falmouth and Bristol to this growing tournament with many big clubs coming from Plymouth.
The age groups covered over the whole weekends were U10, U11, U12, U13 and U14 boys. Girls' age groups covered were U10, U12 and U14. An adult football tournament was also held in Fillace Park over the same time, which was administered by Horrabridge Football Twinning. Over the three weekends 115 teams competed which works out to around 800 players alone. With parents, grandparents, friends and managers about 2,000 people visited Horrabridge.
From the first whistle on day one to the final whistle in the last game, the attitude shown by players, managers, parents and friends was exemplary. The referees who covered the tournament weekends showed great professionalism and dedication.
Finalists in each age group were: Boys U10, Tamarside beat Plymouth Kolts; U11, Torpoint Youth beat Staddiscombe Colts; U12, Judes A beat Railway Beacon; U13, Manstow A beat Tamarside A; U14 Pensilva Youth beat AFC Southway. Girls' U10 Tavistock beat Staddiscombe Colts; U12 Activate FC beat Staddiscombe Colts; U14, Activate United beat Chaddlewood Minors.
All competitors received a medal and each age group had players of the tournament picked by the referees. Horrabridge Rangers Sports Association expressed thanks to everyone who helped in any way.
The tournament weekends were greatly helped by a donation of £4,886 from Awards for All.
