Exmouth Town 1 Hatherleigh Town 1 AFTER an opening day 3-1 win against Pinhoe, Hatherleigh travelled to Exmouth, knowing that their opponents were going to be of better quality than their previous opposition. Hatherleigh began to grow in confidence and by midway through the first half started to dominate the game. Simon James had the first clear cut chance for Hatherleigh. After rounding Exmouth?s keeper, he was unable to convert his chance from an acute angle. Soon after James? miss Hatherleigh were awarded a penalty for a foul inside the area. Exmouth?s goalkeeper made an outstanding save to deny Sam Woolacott. With five minutes to go until half time, Dymond?s pace was too much for Exmouth?s defender and he was fouled, resulting in another penalty and this time a red card for the hosts? defender. Exmouth?s keeper chose the right way again to stop Kimber breaking the deadlock. With only a minute left in the second half, Peter Jones picked the ball up. His shot flew into the back of the net, giving Hatherleigh a well deserved lead. With Hatherleigh still celebrating, Exmouth somehow managed to salvage a draw with five seconds left on the ref?s watch. Both teams had to settle for a hard fought point. This week Cup v Axminster Town (away).
