Okehampton 1st XV 46 Ilfracombe 12 OKES started slowly while Ilfracombe were quick to take the initiative through a close range penalty. Okehapton responded through an Arnie Searle try off a quick penalty. Ilfracombe came back and converted two more penalty kicks before Andy Brimmacombe weaved his way to the line after some strong pack play. Ilfracombe took one more penalty to take the lead at the break 12-10. As weather eased slightly Okehampton upped the tempo in the second half exploiting the weakness in the Ilfracombe defence. Tries seemed to come almost at will, scored by Arnie Searle, Adam Curtis, Dave Watts (2) and Tom Powell (2). Strong loose play from forwards coupled with destructive scrummaging all day gave the Okehampton backs the platform required for such a comprehensive victory. Man of the match: Andy Brimmacombe.
