BELSTONE Cricket Club's season ended with a convincing 77-run victory over visitors Pinhoe.

Eddie Jones held the home innings together with a 90-minute knock of 49 runs off 75 balls. When he was seventh out the score had only reached 103, and it was left to a new record Belstone last wicket unbeaten stand of 46 in 30 minutes between skipper Fraser Willis (24 not out) and Aidan Easterbrook (21 not out) to boost the total to 156 for 9 at tea.

Joslin was the pick of the Pinhoe bowlers, ripping through five middle order batsmen for 28 runs. In reply, Pinhoe looked to be well on their way at 42 for 1 after 13 overs, but then Terry Jeal (5 for 22) and Willis (2 for 15) took the next 6 wickets in 49 balls to reduce the visitors to 68 for 7, from which they never recovered.

The club is holding a barn dance in Belstone Village Hall from 7.30pm on Friday October 12 - tickets available from The Tors, Belstone Post Office or by telephoning 01837 840303.
